THE ULTRA-GLAM MEZZANINE of Nuvo in Greenbelt 2, with its cozy retro chic design, breathes off power and style, dahlings.
It?s no wonder that Butch Albert and Cris Abad Santos, the couple behind the Fila sports fashion brand, celebrated there their 16th wedding anniversary, palanggas.
The event was relaxed and unpretentious. It stretched into way, way past midnight and combined excellent wine and a super-meticulously prepared menu by Nuvo: Pasta Pomodoro, poached chicken roulade, assorted maki, beef salpicao, grilled sausage and baked mussels and clams, and a humorous cake designed by Top Cakes, which was campy and tongue-in-cheek, adding a touch of fun to the fabulous exotic flowers which were tastefully arranged by Cris herself.
The 40 invitees included the couple?s son Carlo Albert, Cris?s mom Wanda Louwallien, sister Ana Abad Santos and best friend Irene Yulo.
As the clock struck 12, the lovely couple said their goodbyes and slipped away for their 16th honeymoon. I asked where they would be going and Cris answered laughing, ?Our lips are sealed.?
It was a fitting ending to their fun celebration, with the invitees having a blast while partying, palanggas.
Fun shoot
Bright, sunny blue skies, carpets of soft green grass and the cool breeze softly blowing at the posh Santa Elena Golf Club. These were the fantastic elements of the cover shoot of well-loved Ambassador Bienvenido R. Tantoco Sr. for the Philippine Tatler?s first cover of 2010, written by Glenn Gale and photographed by Frank Hoefsmit, dahlings.
Ambassador Tantoco, who was very happy with his January cover and feature story, later thanked the luxury lifestyle publication by hosting a super fun but appreciative lunch recently. It was given to Tatler?s managing director, Irene Martel-F., her husband, top cardiologist Randy Francisco, their eye-catching daughter Isabel, and the whole Tatler editorial team. It was held at the picturesque Banahaw Village, located at the same place Ambassador Tantoco was photographed, the Santa Elena Golf Club.
The Tatler team included its editor in chief Anton San Diego, the society editor (who else but moi!), editor at large Mia Borromeo, features editor Vicki A. de Leon, editorial assistant Joan Pasagui, online editor Mario Villamor and special projects coordinator Aissa Gonzalez.
Also present were the entire Tantoco clan, from children to in-laws, led by the brilliant Nedy Tantoco.
The buffet, superbly prepared by the chef Joseph Go, included rice, soup and chicken; healthy mixed salad; sauteed mushrooms; and calorific choices of desserts, among others, plus their renowned cochinilla lechon which disappeared faster than you could bat an eyelash, dahlings.
Apparently, the ambassador drives up there every Sunday for lunch to dig into his favorite Hainanese Chicken.
Great company, relaxed atmosphere, super food downed with cold buko or dalandan juice, palanggas: These are the perfect ingredients for a lazy Saturday out of town, palanggas.
New Mags outlet
Popular throughout the South and Luzon, Mags Boutique opened another outlet at the annex wing of SM Fairview with a glitzy, star-studded affair. The ribbon-snipping was led by the brand?s image model, adorable Rica Peralejo, and Mags Lopez Calpito-Cue, no less, palanggas. They were joined by Miss Earth 2008 Karla Paula Henry, hot actor Alfred Vargas, supermodel and TV host Angel Aquino, actress Chari Pineda, and young actress Iwa Moto.
?It?s the Year of the Tiger, so animal prints are so in. Also, reptile prints and furry headbands will make a splash. We?ll be seeing more of the ?tiger look? throughout the year,? said Mags. ?I have a personal passion for fashion, so this undertaking is a natural progression for me.?
?The label is very different from those that I?ve endorsed in the past. Mags [Boutique] products are made just for women, and cater to their whims,? said Peralejo.
Mags purchases merchandise from Asian countries. ?The trend is always ahead abroad, that?s why.?
She is married to business magnate Oliver John Cue. They?re blessed with an all-male brood. ?I?m inspired because I?m in love and happily married to my husband. Business-wise, I have been lucky to have a competent staff manning our branches. It?s all I can ask for,? said a happy Mags, palanggas.
Mags Boutiques are in SM Cebu, Limketkai Mall in Cagayan de Oro City, SM Iloilo, Maze Boutique Ayala Center Cebu, SM North Edsa, SM Fairview, SM San Fernando (Pampanga) and SM Davao.
