Look fresh with a healthy dose of color on your lips
THIS SUMMER?S MAKEUP IS ALL ABOUT bright pops of color and pretty, carefree looks you can easily create yourself. Anything light, breezy and happy works; and one of the top trends we can?t seem to get enough of is orange-red lipstick.
Fresh and exuberant, today?s orange-red lips give off a young, energetic vibe.
?It looks fierce and intense?definitely for people who like attention,? describes Shu Uemura makeup artist Angelique Dinglasan. Whether matte, shiny or sheer (for the less adventurous), the sunset hue can work for everyone.
Buying into the trend can be a little tricky. It is easy to purchase a shade that clashes with your skintone or wear a hue so bright it doesn?t match your personality. There are many ways to wear a trend and make it your own?take it from the expert and learn how to wear the sunny color.
Know what works for your complexion. ?Fair-skinned ladies should go for sheer versions of the orange-hued lipstick, so as to prevent their skin from looking sallow,? explains Dinglasan.
However, you shouldn?t feel limited to only sheer finishes. Adding a bit of bronzer on your cheeks warms up your skintone and balances the intensity of orange lips.
?The darker and more olive your complexion, the deeper shade of orange you can pull off.?
Make the color last. Dry, chapped lips look terrible no matter what color of lipstick you wear.
?Lips should be exfoliated and well-moisturized before applying any lipstick,? reminds Dinglasan.
Gently brushing your lips with a wet toothbrush and applying a lip primer or moisturizer after does the trick. To make your lip color last for hours, ?use a lip brush to apply the lip color, this allows the color to go on evenly and smoothly. Then, blot lips with a tissue and add another layer to intensify the look.?
Keep the focus on your lips. Wearing a strong lip color can overpower the rest of your makeup. Make sure that your orange-red lips are paired with just a bit of foundation and mascara.
?A strong brow, clean nude face and striking black lashes will go well with a matte-finish orange lip,? Dinglasan suggests. ?Or keep the color sheer and keep the rest of the face clean. With a shade as strong as this, you hardly need anything more on your face.?
