LET THEM eat cake,? said the controversial, extravagant Queen of France, Cris Albert, the First Lady of Fila who was voted best-dressed and woman of substance when she celebrated another exciting year of her fast-paced life, dahlings.
Cris transformed the exclusive Members Only club into a private parlor inspired by Marie Antoinette. ?Nattier blue? with shades of pink and cream in different rich textures covered the walls and furniture. Extravagant topiaries towered over us while loose rose petals softened the chi-chi atmosphere. There were also cakes of all kinds: chocolate truffles, crème brûlée in eggshells, lemon-tart meringue, white chocolate with pistachio cream, strawberry shortcakes with walnuts served with the best of bubbly.
There was Fila?s image model Borgy Manotoc with his gorgeous lady companion Georgina Wilson, and athletic Jeena Lopez who was excited about the Cam Sur Triathlon competition. Cris A. held court with her unbeatable style and charm.
What a pleasure it was to indulge in a bash truly fit for the woman of the hour, Cris Albert, who went ultra-French style for a night, palanggas.
Boys? night out
If the girls can do it, so can the boys, dahlings. And that?s exactly what happened when radio station Magic 89.9 came out with the awesome idea called Boys? Night Out. It?s full of witty conversations, testosterone-induced topics scored with subliminal messages and popularized segment called ?Confession Sessions,? on-air entertainment that will knock your socks off with pleasure, palanggas.
These guys have a natural knack for entertaining, which was clearly shown at the AXE Twist launch which they hosted, calling themselves Axe Men, the Boys? Night Out.
In the series of studies called AXE Lab, the boys think twice about their own tactics. ?We heard the study showing 77 percent of women want their men to be a bit more unpredictable. Boy, that made me question if my machine was getting a bit rusty,? Slick Rick says. ?This is why I was more than willing to oil it with Axe Twist,? he added.
?Axe scored with this one. I?m hoping I get to score one, too, if you know what I mean,? Tony Toni said with a wink.
?What makes Axe Twist special is that it helps you make any woman feel special?and we all know where that leads,? Sam YG exclaimed, with a naughty smile.
With the Boys? Night Out and three hip men pulling a show with a twist, the launch definitely went down in history, dahlings.
Check it out guys, and get your legs moving with Axe Men.
Birthday bash
Gals just want to have fun, dahlings, so where do they head off? The Establishment! That?s exactly what five women of substance did, dahlings. Super friends since they were 15 years young, it was their night as they celebrated the birthdays of their pals, super efficient and organized management consultant Christine Araneta-Ferreira; travel agent extraordinaire Marivic Gutierrez-de Jesus; and successful chemist and golden girl of the night Meilleko Dai, who jetted in from Zurich.
The affair started with cocktails, followed by a to-die-for seared foie gras with sweet miso glaze and golden Camambert with mixed berries compote by mega chef Godfrey Laforteza of The Establishment. Next, an oriental chicken salad with sesame mustard sauce, spicy tuna roll topped with mango, linguini pasta with anchovy orange cream, broiled black cod with miso. For extras, the celebrators were treated to a yummy multi-layered pistachio jateu de lupe birthday cake, courtesy of their super host Anton San Diego.
Cheers, gals, to your exciting and well-loved life.
Queen?s Ball
Etihad Airways, which just happens to be the national airline of Abu Dhabi, no less, and the first airline with fully flat business-class seats, sponsored the Queen?s Ball at the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel in Pasay City. Etihad Airways is premier member of the British Chamber of Commerce and supports the British Women?s Association of the Philippines.
Invitees in chic outfits stood against the union jack for their photos. Our palangga, Roberto ?Bobby? Hukom, Etihad?s dashing and charming country manager welcomed us, dahlings. HE Stephen Lillie, British ambassador to the Philippines, gave an eloquent speech.
Proceeds were donated to charities supported by the British Women?s Association of the Philippines as everyone was treated to an excellent dinner from the Marriott. The Beatles? look-alike band, Bloomfields, had everyone rocking to the ?60s sounds, dahlings.
Lucky Mike Conroy won the Etihad Airways Pearl or excellent business class to London.
