SOMETIMES IT?S better to go out with no makeup than be caught with a bad one. Bad makeup makes a lady look like a tramp. To achieve your most ?beautiful? self, beware of the beauty blunders.
Steer clear of the wrong foundation, overconcealing pimples, spider lashes, overplucked eyebrows, and frizzy hair. These guidelines will teach you how to correct 10 beauty mistakes and misconceptions.
Wrong foundation
We?ve all experienced buying a foundation that?s not right for our skintone?either a shade too light or too dark. Test a foundation on your jaw line or the back of your palm.
Or let your real skin shine through. After applying moisturizer, use foundation as cover-up. Apply where you need it and blend well.
Zit
It doesn?t matter if you?re in your teens or 20?s and 30?s. We never outgrow them. A beauty blunder is covering it with too much concealer. Put a layer or two on the problem area.
Overcovering it can draw more attention to it. Try Derma White Bright-C Stick Makeup SPF for easy application and great coverage with just one layer. And when you?re at home, treat that pimple with Nature?s Gate Salicylic Acid Acne from Healthy Options.
It clears pimple blemishes and allows skin to heal while preventing pimples from forming.
Too much makeup
As you get older, the temptation to hide age is hard to resist. Let more of your natural beauty shine through. Did you know you?ll look younger if you don?t cake on the makeup? Go for a nice lip gloss and mascara.
Awful lip liner
Drawing a line that?s too dark is one of the worst blunders one can make. A natural lip liner color will suffice.
Brows
See a professional for this at least once a month and learn how to maintain them to cut costs.
Spider lashes
This happens when you keep the same mascara for six months or more. Lashes stick together and don?t separate nicely. Clean the clumps off your brush before using to avoid spider lashes. Buy a fresh tube every month. Try Lancôme?s Oscillation mascara for a smooth slide.
Frizzy hair
Try L?Oréal Professionnel, Play Ball Anti-Frizz fizz. When drying hair, dry naturally or use a blow dryer; you?ll get the same result?no frizz. Also try Serie Expert?s Pure Resource Shampoo. It detoxifies and refreshes hair and scalp from environment pollutants. Available at L?Oréal Professionnel salons.
Streaked self-tanner
Don?t miss a spot. Exfoliate. Use lotion. When you?re finished, clean your hands with soap and water.
Self-tanners are also popular with the men. Try Pevonia Spa Care For Him Fitness-Glow Hydrating Self-Tan. It?s a non-greasy self-tanning moisturizer for the face. Easily absorbed, it provides a natural, healthy glow without subjecting the skin to the sun?s harmful rays.
Fading or running eye makeup
Don?t put moisturizer near your eyes if you plan to use liner. Finish with powder so your eye makeup would stay in place. Try Bobbi Brown Brightening compact face powder.
We all have tried new looks. Sometimes they work and other times they don?t. If you are a natural beauty, green eye shadow may not be your best look.
Just in case you don?t know, makeup expires. Microscopic skin cells easily attract bacteria.
But we can?t see it. So when must one throw makeup away? I asked two people, who are no strangers to beauty, to share their secrets:
?The makeup product that I?m particular with in terms of expiration is the cream concealer. When opening a new one, I take note of the ?open jar? symbol to have an idea on how long will it still be good to use after opening. Usually, a concealer should last six to 12 months, but to prolong its shelf life, what I always do is sanitize my brush by spraying 99-percent alcohol before and after using the product. In that way, it would be free of bacteria. I store it in a cool dry place. The fact that we have a tropical climate, I don?t refrigerate my makeup because it tends to change its consistency when you expose it to different temperatures.? ?Paolo Maranan, associate makeup artist, Paul & Joe, www.paolomaranan.multiply. com
?For mascara, I use it for about three to four months then I change it because it dries up.??Isabelle Daza, student/ model
