PROBABLY THE number one thing people complain about these days is the amount they spend on bills for basic household utilities: phone, water, electricity. Add to that other daily expenses such as food and transportation, and it?s doubly hard for the average Juan to save up.
Assisting consumers with such expenses is Citibank, with their new Citi Cash Back Card, a rebate card which will helps Citi clients save as they spend on basic amenities.
?We (at Citi) are always trying to look for ways for clients to get the best value for their money,? said Sanjiv Vohra, country head for Citi Philippines, at the card?s recent launch at S&R Supermarket, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig.
One benefit Cash Back cardholders will receive, for example, is a 5-percent rebate on their monthly Meralco, PLDT landline and myDSL bills starting now until the end of the year.
?We want to help them brave these financially challenging times with a credit card designed to give them more savings from their usual purchases,? added Vohra.
Registration
Cardholders need simply to register their Meralco, PLDT or myDSL accounts in Citi One Bill, which automatically charges their bill to their Citi card. Another option is for clients to log on to Citibank Online and use their Citi Cash Back card account to pay for their bills.
A 5-percent rebate on grocery buys in any supermarket can also be enjoyed by Cash Back cardholders, something they can avail on top of other discounts and promos, plus a 0.5-percent rebate on all other purchases. In a year, a cardholder could earn up to P12,000 in rebates.
?What?s great is that cardholders can easily get earned rebates conveniently each month without the hassle of calling customer service to redeem,? said Bea Teh-Tan, cards business director. ?Just earn a minimum of P250 in rebates and these are automatically credited to your account.?
An annual membership fee of P2,800 is needed to retain a Cash Back card account, but the fee can be waived as long as a cardholder spends at least P180,000 a year (P15,000 a month).
Cash Back cardholders also get a low interest rate of 2.99 percent per month.
?The Citi Cash Back card helps [consumers] get more of what they need?savings on where they spend the most,? Teh-Tan said.
