EATING HEALTHY DOESN’T MEAN boring, flat food.

Century Tuna recently launched the Century Corned Tuna, a healthier alternative to meat dishes. It has seasoned tuna flakes with cured, wood-smoked flavors—all the goodness of corned beef in healthy tuna meat.

“We want to bring tasty, easy-to-prepare but healthy food to your homes,” said Angela Gamboa, senior product manager. “It has onion and garlic bits for added flavor, giving it that guisado taste.”

Century Corned Tuna comes in regular and chili flavor for those who want an extra zing. It is low in sodium and cholesterol, has no preservatives and is a natural source of Omega-3 DHA for better memory and a healthier heart.

Health-conscious yuppies who don’t have much time to cook, moms who need to prepare quick meals, and those who prefer fish over meat will enjoy corned tuna.

“Moms cook it like they would corned beef—sautéed in onions and tomatoes. Kids and husbands love it especially for breakfast,” Gamboa said. “You can also add it in sandwich filling, pasta sauce or rice meals like your regular Century Tuna.”

While another brand of corned tuna has been launched a week ahead, Gamboa said having this variant has always been part of Century’s plan.

“We took the cue from imported corned-tuna brands and wanted to bring it to the Philippines,” she said in the press briefing at Felix restaurant in Greenbelt, Makati.

Actor and model Derek Ramsay is Century Corned Tuna endorser. The fit and lithe British-Filipino poster boy said tuna is part of his regular meals.

“It is not too seasoned or salty. I love the spicy variety with that flavorful kick,” Ramsay said.

The lean hunk surprisingly has a big appetite. “I am on a ‘see-food’ diet. I eat what I see and I eat everything. My meals have a lot of rice.”

He credits playing sports for his “crazy metabolism” and deep tan.

Ramsay regularly plays ultimate frisbee. “Football is my first love since I played it when I was in England, but there aren’t too many football players here so I shifted to frisbee. I don’t go to the gym, but I do push-ups every morning.”

Century Pacific Group has been producing tuna products for over 30 years and has more than 30 variants and pack sizes. The tuna meat is sourced and packed in General Santos to guarantee quality and freshness. All products are thermally processed to assure safety.
