AS ALL SOULS DAY approaches, here is a DIY idea that can help you in our observance of this holiday.
Traditionally bringing flowers and lighting candles as a symbol of remembrance is common practice.
In keeping with the spirit of simplicity in the light of our country’s crisis, a simple candle with a wreath of flowers at the base will be a fitting offering.
Choose a candle.
If you opt to use artificial flowers, cut stems to about 7-8 inches long.
Connect them to form a wreath equivalent to the diameter of the candle.
To secure, use a thin gauge wire to fasten stems together. Bend the flowers to correct angle and position.
If you use fresh flowers, place your candle on a plate. Surround the base with floral foam. (Soak the floral foam for 8-10 minutes before cutting to desired size.)
Cut stems of flowers to appropriate length and position into the foam.
