One-stop address holds yearly sale
HOME FURNITURE AND accessories will be sold at discounted prices and a good percentage of the proceeds will go to the outreach program for victims of ?Ondoy? and ?Pepeng.?

While the LRI Design Plaza each year introduces its latest merchandise in a grand sale before December, this year it decided to have a relief program for typhoon victims.

Located at 210 Nicanor Garcia St. (formerly Reposo), Bel-Air, Makati, the LRI Design Plaza is holding ?Share? on Nov. 19, with cocktails at 6 p.m. The hub of design showrooms and art galleries, ?Share? will be led by Kish, On My Own Furniture and Accessories (OMO) and The Room Upstairs.

Inside this nondescript building are distinctive and rare collectibles. ?Not many people know there are unique and wonderful finds inside this building. Some don?t even know showrooms exist behind those doors. Despite that, LRI Design Plaza has been growing steadily since it opened in 2004,? said Ito Kish, owner and designer of Kish.

Fourth expansion

Kish is now on its fourth expansion. From 22 sq m in 2006, it will reopen its doors to a spacious 230-sq m showroom. Which only proves, he said, that while there may be less foot traffic at LRI Design Plaza compared to a mall, people drop by with the sole purpose of buying furniture pieces, artworks and collectibles.

?Each tenant has a different design concept. The items here are those you will never find in other stores. That has always been our edge. From 20 shops and four art galleries, we now have more than 30,? said Toni Lo, president and owner of LRI Design Plaza.

This year, LRI Design Plaza welcomes Triboa Bay Living, Komodo Teak Furniture, Living Space Home Furnishing, Haute Design, OMO Furniture and Accessories and the re-launch of Kish.

To accommodate more shoppers, LRI Design Plaza will be open for the first time on five consecutive Sundays: Nov. 22, 29 and Dec. 6, 13 and 20, from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

Corals of resin, wooden coat rack and miniature wrought-iron tree with candleholders make up the functional lifestyle showroom of Haute Design. OMO has contemporary designs and modern accessories that have been exported to Europe, US, Australia, South America, Asia and the Middle East.

Balinese inspiration is found in Komodo Teak Furniture, with more than 250 designs on teakwood and exotic Indonesian wood flooring, decking, doors and wall panels. At Triboa Bay Living, handcrafted chairs, tables, cabinets and lamps in traditional woodwork can be found.
