Tosca?s toast to success
World-renowned and gorgeously renovated Dusit Thani Manila (8673333; www.Dusit.com), led by Mr. Charmer himself, general manager Prateek Kumar, gathered chosen friends for an evening of awesome double celebration. It marked Tosca Hotel?s Italian resto receiving the Award of Excellence and two-time Best City Hotel in Manila recognition given by the prestigious annual TTG Travel Awards held in Bangkok Centre, Bangkok, Thailand.
Welcoming us was GM Prateek and director of food and beverage Gilbert Uy. Tosca?s Award of Excellence was given by the Wine Spectator?s Restaurant Wine List Awards, no less.
An endless flow of wine was served by top namedroppable suppliers, paired with delectable European-Italian staccato cocktails served by executive chef Armin Brandtner.
Lucky raffle winners had a first-hand experience of the hotel?s exciting new line of activities.
Beer and wine challenge
It was definitely a first for our town with the super happening during the Beer and Wine challenge, held at NuVo Bar in Greenbelt 2. Beer and Wine Tete a Tete was the fab brainchild of Ines Cabarrus of ?Manila?s Best Kept Restaurant Secrets? and el simpatico Jim Araneta of Global Beer Exchange, collaborating with events and PR lady Edda Joyce Garcia and the new darling chef par excellence Stephanie Zubiri of Modern Epicurean Kitchen.
The variety of beers that I never even knew existed, like the awesome Hefweizen Gordon Biersch (wow!) and excellent wine were carefully paired with an extravagant six-course dinner. During each course, guests voted whether beer or wine best matched the dish. It was a diplomatic tie between both. Yes, dahlings, it?s time for us to be more adventurous with our pairings. Forget the rules.
Check out your invites soon at the same venue, palanggas. Believe me, it?s worth your time. Proudly sponsored by Global Beer Exchange, ADP Industries, Dream FM and Food Magazine.
