Why not? Maria clara is the theme of Face-Off 2014, the annual fashion show of Inquirer Lifestyle, staged this year with Hana Shampoo and Champion Infinity.
Masters and Millennials. Three, four generations of Filipino fashion designers face off in the biggest edition yet of Inquirer Lifestyle’s Face-Off fashion series, to tackle one Filipino costume: the maria clara.
It seemed more like a fashion event than a wedding, with several guests from the fashion industry in attendance, but it was a perfect summer day when in-demand designer Maureen Disini married business executive Daniel Teichert in Tagaytay.
Upon entering this designer’s atelier on the 19th floor of a Makati condominium, you immediately sense that its owner is a woman with refined taste acquired not from New York, but from Europe—where she actually studied fashion and bridal wear for several months a few years ago.
She’s the woman behind the nice Mosaic dresses you’ve been seeing on your Instagram feed. For someone who only started designing in late 2011, Maureen Disini has achieved much progress. Her trainings in Instituto di Moda Burgo in Milan, Instituto Marangoni Paris and Central Saint Martins have paid off well, and the industry has been responding pleasantly.
One of the best things about living in the Philippines is having the opportunity to appreciate the great talent of Filipino designers. Fashion is at its peak as modern Filipino women (and men) take pride in knowing they have a keen eye and taste for good and beautiful pieces.
Maureen Disini

Her feminine designs are timeless, classy and tasteful. Wearing one of her gowns will make you feel sophisticated and special—as if you had just stepped off the pages of a fashion magazine.
Maureen sees to it her clients are comfortable with her designs, and she works with their body type, highlighting their assets while ensuring that they look (and feel) their best in her pieces. She plays with stretch fabric, tulle and chiffon, and is quite fond of draping.
Her pieces constantly appear streamlined, tailored and clean, and she delivers a perfect fit. She is widely recognized not only for her outstanding talent, but also for her humility and dedication to her craft.

His designs are stunning, his pieces dreamy and exquisite, with lots of ruffles, pleats, origami folding. His designs hint at nostalgia, seemingly inspired by Old-World fantasies. While his current designs suggest a more subtle side of him, his romantic qualities are consistently revealed in every piece.
Eric de los Santos
Romantic and feminine but with an edgy twist defines Eric de Los Santos’ pieces. His love for lace and beads, his infatuation with detail, and the extra attention he gives his clients have made him a favorite.
Eric’s most recent muse, Megan Young sported his gown during the Miss World Philippine competition. Eric makes sure his vision is aligned with his client’s requirements and preferences. His pieces are current, modern and fashion-forward. He enjoys mixing special details in his designs—fringe and lace, for instance, or chiffon and zippers. He is likewise known for his seasonal design collaborations with Folded & Hung’s Luxe collection.
