It was Feb. 11, 1998, and a very special day for Cebu. For the first time in its history, the reigning King and Queen of Spain were coming for a visit that lasted a few hours.
She came, she saw and conquered our hearts. We refer to Su Majestad Reina Sofia de España who captured our admiration for her simplicity and charm, while keeping her regal bearing, during her recent state visit, dahlings.
On the heels of Spain winning again the European World Cup, which followed through its 2010 World Cup victory, Queen Sofia may be said to have scored a goal during her visit of the Philippines.
On the last day of her five-day visit to the Philippines, during the cocktail reception hosted by Sen. Loren Legarda at the National Museum’s Fabella Hall on Friday afternoon, Queen Sofia of Spain reserved her biggest praise for the country’s fresh fruits, particularly mangosteen. She earlier asked for a bottle of Coke, but Legarda, who isn’t a big fan of sodas, offered her fruit juices instead.
The Philippines is expected to reaffirm the ties that bind it to Madre España when Queen of Spain makes an official visit on July 2-6.
