It was a red-letter day for both Gino Añonuevo and Kaye Cruz last May 17 as they exchanged vows in a blissful wedding ceremony held at Christ the King.
Gino is the son of Marivic Eustaquio-Añonuevo and the late Roy Nilo Añonuevo, while Kaye is the daughter of Ricardo R. Cruz Jr. and Nieves Cruz. The two were classmates seven years ago at the Ateneo Law School in Rockwell.
Unlike other love stories, it was not love at first sight for them. In fact, their relationship did not go beyond the four walls of the classroom. It was only when they were in second year and no longer in the same section that they became close.
Gino and Kaye both studied at the mezzanine section of the library. And because they had the same set of professors, they would often exchange notes and tips. Soon, they began looking for each other?s company every day.
Although Gino decided to leave law school to pursue marketing, it did not stop him and Kaye from remaining close. Gino finally realized Kaye was everything he wanted in a girl: beautiful, intelligent, sweet and family-oriented.
After four and a half years, Gino and Kaye finally exchanged I do?s. It was a wedding meticulously planned not just by the couple but their families and friends as well, most especially the bride and the groom?s moms, the bride?s sisters Macy and Pat, and their friends Jackie and Brian.
The beautiful and solemn ceremony sounded like it was celebrated in heaven, with cherubim singing magically thanks to Alfred Samonte and the UP Madrigal Singers.
The reception was held at the Grand Ballroom of InterContinental Manila. Everyone enjoyed the sumptuous food, the well-prepared speeches and the highlight of the night, which was the unforgettable dance of the couple.
It started with a traditional waltz to the tune of Apo Hiking Society?s ?Panalangin? and then, to the surprise of the crowd, segued to Chris Brown?s ?Forever? and a modern dance number, which made the crowd go wild.
The couple chose close family friends and relatives as their principal sponsors. The godfathers were Rodolfo Bonifacio, José Roy III, Domingo Añonuevo, Dione Maceda, Robert Syme, Augustus Añonuevo, Delfin Lazaro and Roberto Alingog.
The godmothers were Corazon Abad, Magdalena Vicente, Alice Katigbak, Amelia Paras, Gwen de Vera, Portia Pamatmat, Amaryllis Salazar and Zeny Valdez-Rufon.
