Mics are on! SB19 delivers powerful one-take performance of ‘Gento’ on The First Take

SB19 once again goes viral for “Gento,” this time as they record a one-take performance of the song on popular Japanese YouTube channel “The First Take”


 

Even Japanese viewers can’t get enough of SB19’s vocal power as the P-pop boy group’s one-take performance of “Gento” went live last night on Japanese YouTube channel The First Take.

With witty comments like “(SB19) eats 100 CDs every day” and “they said ‘itadakimasu’ because they ate and left no crumbs” fans and new viewers were amazed by the powerful arrangement of “Gento.”

Among the 15,000+ comments on YouTube are the likes of these witty remarks on SB19’s talent

SB19 is the first Southeast Asian and Filipino group to perform on the 9.8-million follower channel, which already has more than 400 episodes to date. SB19’s “Gento” performance is the channel’s 449th episode, and marks another significant milestone for the group and the song’s success. The video has earned nearly 600,000 views as of writing.

“It was a true first take, so we were very nervous and overwhelmed, but it was fun and an amazing experience,” the “Moonlight” singers share in a press release. “Above all, we are grateful for this opportunity and for being able to represent the Philippines by performing our song here. We are honored to showcase our music and culture through The First Take.”

SB19 joins the ranks of Harry Styles, Avril Lavigne, (G)I-DLE, BTS’ V, and Itzy among the channel’s international guests.

“Gento” was released in 2023 and was an officially approved entry to the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. It also soared to global recognition through various international and K-pop artists joining the “Gento” dance challenge on TikTok.
