Spanish fashion has been making its presence felt in cosmo Manille—with the likes of retail brands Zara and Mango attracting a regular clientele. Now it’s Bershka (part of the Inditex Group which also owns Zara) which opened its first boutique at the ground level of Glorietta 2, Makati City.
Distributed by Stores Specialists Inc. (SSI), Bershka caters to the trendy and well-traveled, palanggas. The hip and young-at-heart invitees to the launch were the first to try on the brand’s latest designs.
Bershka head of communications Begoña Muñoz Martinez and international area coordinator for Asia Lucasz Gala, together with SSI executive vice president Anton Huang, welcomed the guests.
Seen enjoying the fashion soiree were Spanish fashion designer David Delfin, singer Chris Cayzer, model and banker Mikaela Lagdameo-Martinez, model Katie Miller and interior designer Robin Da Roza, among other interesting personalities.
Australian DJ Eve Speciall and Spain-based fashion blogger and DJ Prince Pelayo provided the party music, while our very own hot dance crew Philippine All Stars performed.
Everyone had a blast with the drinks provided by Corona Beer and Ralph’s Wines and Spirits.
Looking around the store, moi noticed that Bershka’s Spring-Summer 2013 collection had an avant-garde sophistication in the form of straight, asymmetrical-cut garments. Standouts were items that used soft, natural colors with ethnic influences, dahlings.
The shoe collection reflected last year’s biggest trends—wedges, flat shoes and high heels with spikes, studs and other metal fixtures.
Bershka Men’s Gentlementality line showcased denim influences mixed with modernized versions of classic pieces.
The Night Buster line has new baggy-sized T-shirts and jackets, while the Dip & Rise collection has the casual-chic feel where blue is the main color, and cotton chino pants and shorts are the main items.
Yes, dahlings, check it out because it’s going to be an exciting summer with the arrival of Bershka, di bala?
Go Italian with Antony Morato
Get ready for a chic and relaxed Italian way of dressing with, take note, dahlings, Antony Morato—one of the world’s fastest-rising Italian menswear brands which had an unforgettable launch at Hyve Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
The highlight of the show was a replication of the brand’s famous “7 Seconds or Less” campaign, in which underwear-clad models put on their outfits in just seven seconds—right on stage.
One female guest enthusiastically told moi: “Wow, it’s such a thrill to watch how these guys do it.”
Believe me, dahlings, it was truly a sight to behold.
As DJ Emel Rowe played music, host Joey Mead King introduced the brand: “Antony Morato was founded in 2007 and has spread to over 3,000 boutiques across 49 countries. The brand owes its rapid expansion and popularity to its youthful design philosophy, combining luxury aesthetics with an easy-to-wear vibe.”
As the party went on, my eyes were glued to a beautiful couple—underwater photographer Gutsy Tuason and Esquire magazine features editor Audrey Carpio.

Bon voyage, Nancy Harel
It was another loss for our town when my dear friend, PR maven Nancy Ladringan Harel, and her husband Itshak gave a farewell dinner at her sprawling Alabang home.
In her short après-dinner speech, Nancy said: “Goodbyes are sweet as they portend a new beginning.” She and Itshak are leaving for Canada to join their children and grandson.
The fun bash was a celebration of friendship as pals gathered to reminisce the good old days.
Nancy’s classmates from St. Scholastica’s College, friends from the Jewish and Alabang communities, as well as those from the Rotary and Zonta clubs, came in full force to bid the well-loved couple goodbye.
As always, when Nancy entertains guests, the food was something to look forward to. The excellent dinner menu included Moroccan, Jewish and Filipino, plus a varied choice of other international cuisine.
Here’s wishing dahling Nancy and Itshak a fantastic life in their new country. Bon voyage, palanggas!
