How JR Isaac deals with his crazy sked | Lifestyle.INQ

JR ISAAC

Twitter has only 120 characters and an Instagram photo can only say so much.

The best way to get a comprehensive update on Manila’s party scene is still with a copy of Circuit, the quintessential eventzine (event magazine).

Chronicling all the hottest gatherings and hippest destinations in and around the metro is what keeps Circuit editor in chief JR Isaac busy these days. A short conversation with him and you’ll know the what’s trendy or where you should be at this very moment.

JR, however, has mastered the art of organizing his crazy schedule—putting order into the frenzy of early days in the office and late nights out. He talks about his work, his parties, and everything that happens in between.

Priorities

PONDS Age Miracle facial foam

The part of my job that most people don’t know about is… it’s a 12-hour or more devoted time for Circuit. Daytime is focused on the business side of the publication, which is sales and advertising, media agency meetings, preparing creative concepts for presentation and submission, plus other office administration work.

At sundown, it’s time for the editorial and research part of the magazine. Attending events such as product launches, openings of club, theatrical plays and exhibits, and dining out in new restaurants. At this time, we gather information that can be shared to the readers, keeping them attuned to the latest vibe in Metro Manila.

Since most of my day is devoted to Circuit… managing my engagements is important to achieve a well-balanced lifestyle. The trick is to keep your priorities on top at any given time by making time for church, family, gym and at least eight hours of sleep. Meeting and dealing with diverse people from creative, marketing and finance backgrounds align both business and editorial matters for a broader sensibility.

I like to dress up in… well-tailored suits. In my closet, you’ll find pieces from Rhett Eala. It is important to dress appropriately for the occasion, it shows respect to the host.

GNC Vitamin C 1000

I have an unusual preference for…  custom-made shoes. In fact, I will go all the way to Marikina and have a pair made.

I spend good money on… vitamins and supplements. That is why having discount cards at GNC, Healthy Options and Mercury Drug is a big help. I take vitamin C for anti-oxidants, Mega Men for strength, Liver Detox and Glutathione for the kidney and liver, and probiotics for an immune system boost.

I’m big on… working out. Recently I appreciated hitting Gold’s Gym first thing in the morning. My 45-minute routine covers all upper body parts. Leg workouts are a challenge. I only do leg workouts on weekends.

Long days and nights… make skin maintenance crucial, especially when exposed to smoking, alcohol and pollution. My face is oily, and I can’t seem to find a suitable SPF that won’t cause irritations.

I have different L’Oréal Men Expert facial washes that I use for daytime—charcoal black foam, acne striker purifying foam, white active and hydra energetic. I wash my face as much as I

L’ORÉAL Men Expert facial wash

can and keep the same facial wash set in the office because it makes me feel less oily and my skin feels tighter.

My nocturnal facial routine… starts with Shu Uemura products, from the cleansing oil, lip balm (especially in AC) toner, eye cream and night repair. I alternate nights with Ponds facial wash and Ponds Age Miracle, especially if I had a long day with too many drinks that night. It feels moisturized after all that alcohol and smoke from the bars and clubs.

At night, no matter how late I get home, I… will take a cold shower using Dove Body Wash.

Product picks

Summer is a tough time for hair and skin problems, no matter the sex (hey, boys get wrinkles, too). So, do as JR does and explore the latest skin care offerings for men.

HEALTHY Options L-Glutathione

Whether you’re looking for moisturizer to beat back the lines or cream to style your broom-like hair, there’s a whole new range for men out there, which makes self-care more acceptably masculine.

Try JR’s product pick to combat oily skin: L’Oréal Men Expert Pure and Matte Charcoal Black Foam. It keeps skin free from oil, impurities and dullness. In every use, freshness is instantly felt as menthol cools and soothes the skin, leaving it with a more comfortable and pleasant sensation. Pores are tightened, blackheads are visibly reduced. Skin is intensely refreshed and ready to face the heat! (Available in all leading supermarkets and department stores nationwide for P195.)
