How to get Anne Curtis’ (red) pouty lips

ANNE Curtis shows off her hot-pink pout and pink ombre hair on Instagram.

One of actress Anne Curtis’ most striking features is her full, pouty lips.

Her pout has sold brands on billboards everywhere and we’ve seen the pout work its magic on Derek Ramsay on celluloid (twice).

We asked her personal makeup artist Robbie Piñera, who’s worked with her on most of her major ad campaigns, to share tips on how you can get those “Anne Curtis lips.”

Piñera describes Curtis as the “perfect canvas” when it comes to makeup. Her adventurous spirit has led the duo to experiment successfully with numerous looks in the course of their five-year collaboration.

On her own, Curtis can rock a good makeup look. “She can do her own makeup! She actually does her own for ‘Showtime’ and her teleserye shoots.” says Piñera.

Pinera did the makeup for Curtis’ “controversial” birthday performance, where she sang Rihanna’s “Diamonds” under faux rain. “I watched the monitor closely praying that her makeup wouldn’t run while she was getting drenched!” he says.

Her makeup artist describes Curtis’ makeup philosophy as “less is more.”

“I love that she emphasizes only one feature on her face and that she loves her natural freckles—-she doesn’t like to cover it and pile on the concealer and foundation.”

Though Curtis loves to experiment with lip colors that are in season, her favorite lip color is red, preferring matte formulas.

Lip conditioner first

Here are Piñera’s tips on how to get that Anne Curtis pout:

1. Make sure to apply lip conditioner first (try: Carmex or La Mer lip balm) to protect your lips from drying and leave for a few minutes. Blot the excess with tissue so lips can stay matte.

2. If you have thin lips, try to outline your lips, going slightly over your natural lip line using a lipliner whose shade is similar to your chosen lip color shade.

3. Fill in the rest of the lips with lip color.

4. To get a pouty effect, apply a light coat of a lighter-toned lip color on the center of your lower lip to create a highlight (think ombre, but for lips). This will create a highlight, making your lips look pouty.

5. Make lip color last by filling in lips with a lipliner. The liner’s drier formula will make lipstick adhere better to your lips.
