The masterminds behind Netflix’s “Chef’s Table” are coming to Manila for a new series called “Street Food” that will explore what Asian vendors and hawkers have to offer—with the Philippines included.
Chef and cultural heritage advocate Myke “Tatung” Sarthou will bring the crew down south to get a taste of the best Filipino street food.
No other details have been confirmed but one thing is for sure: The Philippines’ vibrant selection of street foods made the cut for the upcoming series.
Nine countries from Asia will be featured in the first season and each episode will showcase “the stories of perseverance and culture that bring life to each country’s cuisine.”
Street food has long been the underdog in the culinary scene, but it’s been steadily stealing the spotlight as vendors and hawkers have been awarded Michelin stars for their establishments.
The series will be released on Netflix on Apr. 26.
