Meet the Stars Behind the Bar

Forget One Direction, Down to Mars or even Chicser.

There’s a new and different kind of boyband in town named Stars Behind the Bar. Composed of the restaurant T.G.I. Friday’s bartenders, most of whom have participated in the annual “Shake, Rattle and Pour” bartending competition, the group’s members are total performers: they sing, dance—and flip bottles and toss drinks, too.

All of the six members had to audition to be part of Stars Behind the Bar: Aldrin “The One” Javar (from T.G.I. Friday’s TriNoma), Michael “Unstoppable” Rabago (Glorietta), Ronilo “The Showstopper” Bautista (Mall of Asia), Junjun “The Entertainer” Marcelo (Malate), Gino “The Bomb” Simbillo (Marquee Mall in Pampanga), and Genrev “The Revolution” Bacasno (Tomas Morato).

Bacasno is the reigning champion of the local T.G.I. Friday’s Shake, Rattle and Pour bartending contest. He also made the country proud when he was named 2nd runner-up at the Asian Bartending Competition held in Melbourne, Australia, last year.

Together, the Stars Behind the Bar will amuse you with their bottle-spinning skills, funny song choices, all-out performances, and various gimmicks. Those watching up close can even sample a drink or two that the star bartenders concoct themselves for the show.

So, now there’s another reason to head to Friday’s, apart from their moan-inducing Oreo Madness dessert, Three-For-All appetizers platter, and Mojito-all-you-can drink.

And since we’re on the topic of drinks, Friday’s just updated its bar menu—while watching the Stars Behind the Bar flip those bottles, go ahead and order beer on tap at P60, local bottled beer at P85 and beer by the bucket for only P350.

Friday’s also offers cocktails such as Long island Tea, Bahama Mama, Kamikazee, and 77 Sunset Strip starting at P125. And let’s not forget the well-loved Mojito, which remains bottomless at P295. Mark Sablan, Contributor
