Beautiful, touching 30th-birthday bash for Cristalle Belo Henares

When eye-catching beauty Cristalle Belo Henares recently celebrated her 30th birthday at Whitespace Makati, the event overflowed with love—especially from her parents, Dr. Vicki Belo and Atom Henares. Only 30 of her closest and dearest pals from the three decades of her life were invited, dahlings. But, as usual, the guests eventually went over 30, as so many friends wanted to celebrate with her.

In attendance were Cristalle’s buddies in school and from San Antonio Parish Church: Timi Gomez-Aquino, Marco Pascual, Jeff Saez, Sofia Genato, Noelle Hilario, Theresa Leung and Monica Araneta, palanggas.

Painstakingly and lovingly orchestrated by her two best pals, Garlic Garcia and Ruffa Gutierrez, who carefully planned the surprise sit-down dinner down to the last detail, the party featured a delicious feast catered by Gaita Fores.

Orange, Cristalle’s favorite color, was the motif. The floral arrangements and décor were done by my southern pal, Robert Blancaflor. There was also a scrumptious marble hazelnut pound cake in orange, a gift from San Vicente, Palawan, Mayor Pie Alvarez. And Cristalle’s love for underwater photography was seen in underwater photographs of her taken by scuba diving friends Frank Briones and Kris Larsen.

Jojie Dingcong, popular talent agent and Belo’s marketing consultant, brought a special surprise—a performance by Cristalle’s favorite dancer Bugoy Cariño. Wow!

Anyway, who was this gentleman who was always front and center stage whenever Cristalle was photographed? Another gorgeous guest was seen just trying too hard to work his/her way

into the social huddle. Oops!

Dr. Vicki was unfortunately in Boston as a speaker at a dermatological convention, so she sent in a video message for Cristalle instead, which had everyone misty-eyed: “I have made many mistakes in life, but one thing I did right was to have a daughter like you,” she said. “You are everything I am and everything I am not because you are everything I want to be and more… When I am asked to define beauty, all I have to do is look at my daughter and see what beauty is, because you are truly beautiful inside and out.”

The party was truly an awesome celebration. In Cristalle’s words: “I turn 30 with only gratitude in my heart for all the love that is in my life; and now I am ready to embrace the even more radiant life that God has prepared for me.”

Amen to that, my adorable palangga, Cristalle H. Belo!

Havaianas fun event

“Make Your Own Havaianas” (MYOH) is a fun event that has always drawn a crowd. This time around, on its eighth year, the event was held at the Rockwell Tent for three days—the biggest design collaboration so far for the brand.

“The event serves as an avenue where people can showcase their creativity and their fashion statement,” said Anne Gonzalez, managing director of Havaianas Philippines. “Hence, for this year’s MYOH, we decided to collaborate with the Havaianaticos themselves, not only to further bolster their artistry, but also to strengthen the bond of the customers with their customized Havaianas flip-flops.”

Hosted by Vince Golangco and Joyce Pring, this year’s edition was an imaginative romp, from the Havaianas hot-air balloon made up of 1,753 flip-flops, to the carnival-esque feast whipped up by China Cojuangco and Gino Gonzalez and Cupcakes by Sonja.

Moi noticed that every pair made during MYOH had its own unique story to tell. And true enough, palanggas, the Havaianaticos told theirs through this year’s parade of happiness, fun and self-expression—which is what Havaianas is all about, di bala?

Furla concept store

It was no secret, dahlings, that our town’s fashion-conscious set was breathlessly waiting for that well-known and in-demand Italian premium accessories brand Furla to open on our shores—which it finally did, at Greenbelt 5 in Makati City.

El simpatico Giovanna Furlanetto, Furla president, said in his welcome speech: “This boutique is among the first ones in the world to show the new concept store of the brand, first launched in Asia Pacific last August…”

Furla is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists Inc. at Rustan’s Makati, Shangri-La Plaza Mall and Newport Mall.
