Don’t throw away your empty jelly and peanut butter jars just yet! Transform them into your own pretty candle holders that you can use to enhance your table setting or vignette.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Empty, clear jelly or any kind of open-mouthed glass jar
  • Patterned paper doily or stencil
  • Spray paint or brush and paint (enamel, latex or acrylic)
  • Double-sided tape (to hold the pattern in place )
  • Hair dryer (optional)

CANDLE holder

Prepare your jar/bottle by washing it well with soap and water. Dry thoroughly.

SPRAY paint over the pattern as evenly as you can.

Position your patterned doily or stencil on the glass surface and secure with double-sided tape.

Spray paint over the pattern as evenly as you can. If using a brush and paint, use a dabbing technique to avoid creating brush streaks on the bigger areas, and to get into the smaller spaces in the pattern.

Allow to air-dry properly. You may also use a hair dryer at a cool or warm setting.

Place your votive candle inside your finished jar and light it up!
