A showcase of modern bayanihan: Zonrox Linizkwela

Volunteers at the Rosa L. Susano Elementary in Novaliches receive product donations during Zonrox Linizkwela Balik Eskwela Clean-up drive held last May 24, 2013. Zonrox donated products and cleaning equipment to more than 40 public schools across the country.

MANILA, Philippines—As the coming 2013-2014 school year inched closer, educators, parents, and local communities’ spirit of Bayanihan were exhibited once again as they, together with Zonrox Plus, staged the Linizkwela Balik Eskwela Clean-up drive last May 24. This uniquely Filipino trait of grouping together for a common task — much like all the sticks that form the walis ting-ting — gets the job done year after year of ensuring a cleaner, more inspiring learning environment our youth deserves.

Armed with brooms and other cleaning equipment, thousands of volunteers across the nation withstood the summer heat and cleaned classrooms, bathrooms, and other school facilities for an entire day. They do this with a smile because they know that their kids and their educators need not worry about having a dirty school to contend with on their first day back.

Linikwela, a program spearheaded by Zonrox Plus, aids teachers, parents, and barangay volunteers’ efforts of cleaning up public schools annually. Chief among the brand’s beliefs is the idea that children should be in a surrounding that is sanitary and conducive to learning. “The message of Zonrox Linizkwela really is to ensure a vibrant and clean environment for our youth, as they start a new school year,” adds Nicole Postrado, Brand Manager for Zonrox Bleach. Already on its third year, Zonrox Linizkwela continues to commit itself so much so that thousands of Zonrox Plus products and other cleaning supplies have been donated to more than 40 public schools all over the country.

She and several more parent-volunteers exclaimed such sentiment in unison in the middle of all the dusting and sweeping at the Rosa L. Susano Elementary School in Novaliches.

Aside from the parents, teachers and school representatives were also eager to devote their time in the Linizkwela clean up drive as Cristy Sarcia, an educator of Tugatog National Highschool in Malabon shared, “Masaya akong mag-volunteer dahil kapag naipakita ko ito, maaari akong maging ehemplo sa mga magulang at iba pang mamamayan. Isa sa aming mga pangunahing purpose ay ihanda ang eskwelahan… para siguraduhing malinis at maayos ang lahat.”

These parents and teachers get together as a community to help clean public schools every year, a true Bayanihan effort that can be seen today. The clean up activity may have been done in a day or two, but the support that the Zonrox Linizkwela volunteers have given to these public schools have a lasting impact in providing our Filipino youth a better learning environment through cleaner classrooms and school facilities.
