New book on a modern Filipino nun

Myrna Hunt Francia was an unorthodox nun. A member of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (ICM), she was a teacher of philosophy and theology, socio-pastoral worker, social activist,  retreat facilitator, guidance counselor, and a prolific writer known for her passion for life and sharp wit.

The Sister Myrna Francia Memorial, Inc., (SMFMI), set up shortly after her death in 2010, has now published a book in her memory.  Titled “The Party’s Over” and subtitled “A Nun for Modern Times/ The Story of Myrna H. Francia, ICM ,” it contains her autobiography, poetry and other writings, photographs, and memories of her family and fellow religious, coworkers, friends and former students.

The book will be launched on June 22 at De Meester Residence in the ICM Sisters compound (St. Theresa’s College Gate No. 2, D. Tuazon Ave., Quezon City). A Mass at 9 a.m. will precede the launch.
