Tweaking twigs for a centerpiece

When all the riotous colors of summer start getting to you, turn to the pristine and the simple for your table centerpiece or grouping. The stark contrast of dark and light, in this case, the dark twigs against the white rice, is an easy match for most color schemes. Inexpensive and elegant can go hand in hand with this project.

 

What you’ll need:

 

  • FOR A MINIMALIST centerpiece, fill several glass containers with uncooked white rice. Carefully prop a number of twigs into the rice and arrange the glass containers in a row.

    Twigs, of same color if possible

  • Uncooked white rice
  • Glass containers (of varying shapes or heights, or both)

 

Here’s how:

 

Fill your vase halfway through with rice as you would with water.

 

Stick your twigs upright, in the middle.
