TRADITION? You have no idea.
The DLSU Animo Squad, the pep squad of De La Salle University, held its annual initiation for new members last June 17 to 21, which it refers to as “Hell Week.” But this is all to test the dedication and will of the newbies, to see if they are worthy of carrying the name of the school on the battlefield, where they have to be the heart of the crowd supporting the school.
Different challenges were given to the new members to test their performance with tough crowds, and also to give them a push when it comes to confidence.
They were told to come to school for a week wearing certain costumes based on a theme. Dressed as everything from Nintendo characters to futuristic Green Archers, the new blood had to ignore the stares they would get from their peers, and also show some guts by doing the tasks assigned to them by their mentoring members.
This meant awkward situations, like singing for random people or shouting the cheers of other schools. But of course, in the end, it will be all worth it for them, who will be part of one of the most recognized pep squads in the country.
