Bench has come a long way from its humble beginnings to the widely popular brand it is today, dahlings, and it’s still on a roll—judging by its latest Bench Body show held recently at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

The brand presented its Underwear Holiday collection, which was inspired by street art and style, palanggas.

The show kicked off with a dance performance, with floor lights adding to the theatrical scene.

Black-and-white videos, shown as a teaser to introduce Bench’s latest endorser, world-class model Paolo Roldan, sent screams of delight from the audience.

The show was divided into three segments: Beyond Light and Darkness; Beyond Space and Time; and Beyond Dreams and Life.

The underwear collection featured pieces that played around the naughty-but-nice concept. Model Borgy Manotoc  wore a dark gray brief matched with a printed bandana and hi-tops, while the female models were garbed in printed bras and underwear with edgy-tough black tops.

Roldan donned a basic black brief—one of the night’s highlights—followed by a display of pieces that were intensified with oversized athletic outerwear.

Bench Body has gone beyond all expectations again, dahlings, with a fashion-forward collection that left everyone wondering: Was it naughty or nice?

Whatever, it left Bench’s star shining bright as ever in the galaxy, di bala, palanggas?

New online mag for men

A new men’s online magazine, Manifesto.com.ph, was launched recently at The HyvE in Bonifactio Global City. It aims to help guys become the man they want to be, natch.

Manifesto.com.ph encourages readers to utilize a content-filtering tool upon signing up.

At the launch, sultry singer Mica Javier gave an impressive performance that kept the crowd on their feet.

Dashing event host Rovilson Fernandez welcomed the invitees and introduced the guests of honor as embodying “The New Man,” like ABS-CBN reporter Atom Araullo, and chef/ foodie/ triathlete Erwan Heussaff, no less.

In his welcome speech, Manifesto editor in chief Ramon de Veyra said  the site offers a whole new world that men can explore—from the best sources that the web and the publishing world can offer.

Discussing the partnership between Manifesto and Unilever, De Veyra called onstage Unilever Philippines head of PR for personal care Apples Aberin. “The responsibility falls upon Unilever to grow the category and educate men about grooming, as well as other topics like style, tech, culture, women and sports. Through Manifesto.com.ph, Unilever hopes to help Filipino men become their best selves,” Aberin said.

Spanish food fest

We had a fun and exciting night, dahlings, at the opening of Gastronomia de España, a month-long Spanish food festival at Manila Marriott Hotel in Pasay.

There was an endless flow of tapas and wines. Laid out on the table were jamon Iberico and Serrano, olives, Manchego cheese, paella, chorizo, pintxos, churros, arroz con leche and other mouthwatering delights from guest chef Victor Burgos of Valladolid, Spain.

Flamenco dancers, also flown in from Spain, evoked power and grace in their percussive footwork with intricate hand and body movements.

Spanish music was performed by the Arriba band and Primo, a renowned trio from Resorts World Manila.

Sangria and wines from Spain courtesy of Bodegas Hidalgo kept everyone in an “olé” mood, palanggas, with shouts of “Viva España” from the high-spirited guests.

Naturellemente, it had to be the Manila Marriott Hotel to give us a glimpse of what Spain is all about, que si, dahlings?
