‘Korea Night’ marks 2nd anniversary of Korean Cultural Center

A night of musical performances will mark the second anniversary of the Korean Cultural Center (KCC). “Korea Night” will be held on July 19 at the SM Cinema Centerstage at the SM Mall of Asia.

 

The Korea Night will be headlined by the KPOP Cover Dance Festival, hosted by the Visit Korea Committee.

 

Local cover dance groups will compete and the winning team will be sent to Gangwon, Korea to compete with the representative cover dance teams from around the world.

 

Also to be held is TAL Musical, a nonverbal performance that fuses the Korean mask tradition with Taoist-based Taekwondo martial arts.

 

The TAL Musical will feature a fantastic story harmonized with the Korean traditional dance and Oriental drumming.

 

B-Boy, the current cultural icon of the youth in Korea, will also perform.

 

Earlier, the KCC held the Pinoy Kpop Star and the UP Culture Caravan.

 

Two exhibitions will cap off the anniversary.

 

“50 Years of Korean Contemporary Printmaking Exhibit” will open at the Metropolitan Museum on July 31. Jointly organized by the Korea Foundation and the Metropolitan Museum, it will run until Aug. 23.

 

The KCC will open the “Hangeul Ornaments Exhibit” on Aug.16.

 

The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines was established on July 19, 2011 and is offering a variety of programs especially designed for the Filipino market, in response to the growing interest of Filipinos on Korean culture.
