You can live to age 120

(First of a series)

It is called the breakthrough life. And if one were to follow a lifestyle like the one proposed and lived by Suzanne Somers, then this one is the new possibility.

So, one has to explore the world of stem cells, glutathione injections, vitamin C infusions, chelation and hydrogen peroxide IV treatments and the latest blood tests.

Do we have a choice but to extend our life span? The answer is probably “no,” in the light of all the new approaches to anti-aging. In the end of course, the choice to live beyond 100 is in our hands.

Lifestyle, more than anything else, has had the most dramatic effect on one’s life expectancy, no matter what our genetic inheritance is from ancestors.

According to Dr. Bill Faloon, publisher of Life Extension magazine, the single most significant piece of knowledge he has ever learned was the fact that it is our food choices that determine whether we can become well or ill. In short, the wrong food choices can increase the risk of cancer or cardiovascular problems.

The basic understanding and knowledge of food and its effect on the body is paramount. In plain and simple language, you can eat toxic or not eat toxic.

In order to enjoy the good life, one needs to be well.

For example, here’s a regular man’s big meal, one that he feels he deserves at least once a week.

Steak, baked potato, gravy, salad with a rich creamy dressing. Sounds tempting, if you are carnivore. Sure, vegetables are good for you. But if they are not organic, chances are they were sprayed with pesticides.  What’s more challenging is, what dressing are you mixing your veggies with? What’s more challenging is that meat is probably not organic, so it could be laced with chemicals and non-herbal synthetic seasoning.

This meal, followed by a generous helping of bread pudding swimming in a vanilla cream sauce will give you this: a surge in omega-6, a high glycemic load and fat. The result: elevated insulin and cholesterol level.

We are all unsuspecting victims each time we eat in a public place.  Thus, to neutralize toxicity in the food we could possibly ingest, consider a supplement called vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin).

Watch out for omega-6 in these oils: sunflower, soybean, corn and sunflower.

Inflammation

When there is an imbalance between omega-3 and omega-6, arachidonic acid is produced.  This is the precursor to inflammation in the body.

Let’s remember this as truth—inflammation signals the beginning of illness in any and all organs of the body. An increase in arachidonic acid can be easily translated to a rise in the risk of a variety of illnesses like arthritis, vascular disease and cancer.

How to neutralize the damaging effects of omega-6: consume more green tea, resveratrol (from grapes and wine), curcumin (from yellow ginger/luyang dilaw) and omega-3 fats.

Minimize or avoid high-saturated fats like red meat, full fat dairy products, poultry (chicken, turkey) skin, egg yolks, organ meats.

Omega-3 comes mainly from cold-water fish. Rich sources of omega-3 are flaxseed and olive oil. Beware: some olive oils are mixed with other cheap oils. Read the label well before buying.

The idea is to get good cholesterol or HDL into our bodies. And one of the simplest ways is to take two tablespoons extra virgin olive oil and one capsule red yeast rice.

Both of these supplements have been known to lower cholesterol. The significant finding is this: it isn’t only high LDL and triglycerides that cause atherosclerosis or coronary complications; it is low LDL. And so, the goal is to get as much HDL into our systems through omega-3.

Drinking 8-oz pomegranate juice daily for one year can have a positive effect on the arterial wall thickness. This plus an extract from melons (called Glisodin), which boosts SOD (superoxide dismutase), has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect on the body.

In short, drink pomegranate juice and eat more melons.

There is a preponderance of scientific proof showing that in the natural field, the mineral magnesium can effectively block the pathological processes in the body, especially with degenerative diseases.

Vitamin D and garlic oil (the natural antibiotic) are some of the stars of the natural approach.

Taking 400-800 milligrams of magnesium daily can guard your heart properly and adequately.

The same goes for 30 mg of zinc with vitamin D, 10,000 IU.

While there has been much debate about the effectiveness of vitamin E, there appears to be encouraging feedback from people on this therapy. Drinking 200 mg daily of alpha-tocopherol and gamma-tocopherol provides broad-spectrum protection versus inflammation.

Vitamin C therapy is presently being used by doctors to neutralize free radicals in the body. It is highly recommended as a natural approach to boost the immune system and to fight cancer.

There is so much more information about natural regimens that have successfully changed the lives of many.

More next week.

Affirm today: “All the goodness of life is my inheritance.”

Love and light!
