It has been raining for the past few days and already the weather is taking a toll on my morale. But feeling down is not the only thing the rainy season brings. It also causes the skin to become pasty and dull.
I know the sun’s rays do a lot of damage to the skin, but I’m also aware that the skin needs the right amount of sunlight to keep that healthy glow.
Through the years I have bought different bronzers to obscure the pasty-dull skin that comes with the season.
Here are my top picks in no particular order.
Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder. This product has been featured in the beauty must-have lists of many magazines. I like it because it’s not orangey, unlike other bronzers—my skin
is on the pale side. The Powder 1 is perfect for those who are pale, while Powder 2 is for those who have a bit of color or have naturally olive skin.
I have both variants since I like to use the second as a blush to further deepen my skin color. Also, when I have just come from the beach, I use the second all over my face instead of the first.
NARS Bronzing Powder. This is a fun powder I use all over, although it is really meant for the face. The powder stays on for a long time, so you won’t feel the need to reapply. I also use it sometimes for contouring when I want to add definition to my face.
MAC Bronzer. This comes in various colors so there is bound to be one for you. If you get overwhelmed, it is best to ask help from the counter attendants. It is neither cakey nor orangey; and only light application is needed since there is a sizeable amount of shimmer, which I like on days when I feel like my skin looks really dry. I also like using it as the final step to my makeup for a night-out. However, if you’re not into shimmer, ask for the matte bronzer.
Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess. This product is great for those with oily skin. I have this compact because my skin is sometimes dry or oily, or both. I believe this is the case for most women, too.
I like using the lighter shade during the day, and the darker shade at night for some drama. On other days I mix them!
Laura Mercier Bronzing Powder. I am fair-skinned and I enjoy this product because even the lightest shade gives me a healthy glow upon application. It also has no shimmer which I like to use since it makes for a more natural look.
Another trick is to brush some on parts that the sun hits.
The Body Shop Bronzing Powder. I have three shades of this because my skin color changes from time to time. Best of all, it is well-priced and is such a reliable product I don’t feel guilty when I hoard.
It gives a sun-kissed look that looks natural with just the right amount of shimmer that enhances color without making one look shiny.
