PEN to launch Fe Aldave Yap’s ‘Global Filipino’

The Philippine Center of the International PEN (Poets & Playwrights, Essayists, Novelists) will launch Fe Aldave Yap’s “Global Filipino: Crossing Borders” on Aug. 31, 5 p.m., at the Solidaridad Bookstore, Padre Faura Street, Ermita, Manila.

 

Published by De la Salle University Press, “Global Filipino” collects Aldave Yap’s essays on Philippine languages and nationhood, language education in a multilingual context, literature and translation, culture and globalization, orthography, and coming up with a global dictionary.

 

PEN is holding book-club discussion on Aldave-Yap’s book in connection with August as Buwan ng Wika (National Language Month).

Linguist, writer and teacher, Aldave Yap is former director general and commissioner of the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino. She is president of the University of Santo Tomas College of Education Alumni Association, Inc. and is the recipient of the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award.
