New ‘Coconut Oil’ book now off the press

Anvil Publishing Inc. will launch “Coconut Oil: From Diet to Therapy” on Aug. 31, 10 a.m., at the Megatrade Hall, SM Megamall.

The book is by Fabian Millar Dayrit of the Department of Chemistry of Ateneo de Manila University.

Dayrit is the son of the late Dr. Conrado Singian Dayrit, the author of the best-selling “The Truth About Coconut Oil.”

“Coconut Oil” provides interesting historical facts on coconut oil, why and how it became politically ostracized and medically an outcast. It also provides basic descriptions of vegetable oils and fats in comparison with virgin coconut oil. It provides new findings on the health benefits of taking VCO as a daily diet.

“Coconut oil is one of the most misunderstood fats. It has been portrayed by some as an artery-clogging saturated fat that causes heart disease, while others hail it as the healthiest oil on earth,” naturopathic doctor Bruce Fife says in the foreword.

In the prologue, the author writes, “Today, people are returning to natural diets in order to live healthier and happier lives—the hallmarks of ‘wellness’—and science has been validating the benefits.

One of the natural foods being rediscovered is the coconut. Although vilified as a cause of heart disease, coconut oil has always shown itself to be a healthy and curative oil. Numerous studies using the tools of modern science are finally revealing—and validating—the beneficial effects of coconut oil.”

“Coconut Oil: From Diet to Therapy” is now available in the health section of National Book Store, Powerbooks and Bestsellers.
