“Rock On” was the theme of the super fun 70th birthday bash for Derek Arnold Ramsay Sr.—father of hot hunk actor Derek Ramsay, no less, at RJ Bistro in Dusit Thani hotel, Makati City.

Every year, the five Ramsay siblings and their mom, Remedios, plot a fab surprise for Derek Sr. Well, palangga, they did a good job because he was very much surprised to see 80 of his friends waiting to greet him “happy birthday!”

The affair started with dinner, followed by singing and dancing, dahlings.

The party invitation, made by eldest daughter Rojinie Ramsay-Cortes, was printed on a card designed like a 45 rpm record, placed in an open envelope with red, white and blue colors.

The yummy dinner was courtesy of another daughter, Camilla Ramsay-Barclay, the baker in the family.

The Band of Brothers got the guests out of their seats and swinging to rock and roll music.

A third daughter, Natala Ramsay-Bontilao, serenaded her dad with a beautiful ballad, while youngest brother DA wowed the guests with his amazing performance of “Blue Suede Shoes” and a couple of Beatles classics. Indeed, talent runs deep in the Ramsay family, dahlings!

The guests included cast members of the new TV5 action series “Undercover” in which Derek stars; Jerald Napoles of another TV5 series, “Kidlat”; Arcee Muñoz; Gerard Acao; Dr. Vicki Belo and daughter Cristalle Belo Henares; Jojie Dingcong, Derek’s popular manager and an adopted Ramsay famille member; and my palangga, Swatch’s lady boss Virgie Ramos.

Close friends of the Ramsays were also present, like Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chair Francis Tolentino’s mother, fondly called “Manay,” who arrived with her amigas from Tagaytay; Gerry Rollins; Mr. and Ms Richard Barclay; Lourdes and Kristine de Leon; lawyer Michael Kim from Austria.

Derek Sr. was left speechless, which happens rarely, according to the family. Well, dahlings, it can only mean that he felt all the love that was in the room that night.

Cheers to that!

Stuart understands that a great shoe is about “making a woman feel beautiful” with a great fit, style and comfort.

At the launch, he welcomed us with a short speech: “Manila is one of Asia’s most beautiful cities whose women have sought out our shoes in their worldwide travels. I’m excited to launch my first boutique to showcase the complete range of our designs within our own retail environment.”

It was an afternoon filled with beautiful shoes, bags, and more shoes. The event started with speeches by Lifestyle Asia editor in chief Anna Sobrepeña; associate publisher and deputy editor Cheryl Tiu; SM Supermalls VP for operations Steven Tan; Stuart Weitzman Asia VP for marketing Roberta Lee.

Fifteen personalities were then revealed as Stuart Weitzman ambassadors, each wearing signature Weitzman footwear.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Weitzman’s 50-50, a personal favorite of Angelina Jolie; the boots will take center stage for Weitzman’s Fall/Winter 2013 global ad campaign featuring Kate Moss, photographed by Mario Testino.
