Ballet Philippines celebrates Andres Bonifacio’s 150th birthday anniversary in “Rock Supremo,” co-produced with Rock Ed and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).
The second production in Ballet Philippines’ 44th season, “IllumiNATION,” “Rock Supremo” commemorates the life and legacy of the Filipino nationalist and revolutionary, whose 150th birth anniversary is being marked this year. The dance cum rock concert runs Sept. 20-22 and 27-29 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Little Theater.
The production is supported by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
Rico Blanco, Ebe Dancel, Peryodiko, Dong Abay, Kai Honasan, Peso Movement, Gloc9, Sandwich, Pedicab, Radioactive Sago Project and Tarsius produce all-new songs especially for the production. The music will be available for free digital download, courtesy of Rock Ed.
Featuring choreography by Ballet Philippines artistic director Paul Morales, and Alden Lugnasin and Dwight Rodrigazo, “Rock Supremo” reveals Bonifacio in the three most pivotal points in his life: his childhood, his romantic relationships, and his role in the revolution.
