Hidalgo and other important works to be auctioned off

“BARCOS…EN el Horizonte,” by Felix Resureccion Hidalgo; signed and dated 1893, from the heirs of Lourdes Perez del Rosario.

Leon Gallery will hold the Magnificent September Auction on Sept. 28, 2 p.m., at the AIM Conference Center, JV del Rosario Foundation Bldg., Benavidez St., Legazpi Village, Makati City.

 

The auction will feature highly important Philippine art from the 19th century and from the modern and contemporary eras.

 

Highlights are “Barcos… en el Horizonte”  by Felix Resureccion Hidalgo, consigned directly by the descendants of Hidalgo; a large 48” x 48” oil work by Anita Magsaysay-Ho; a Philippine-period Fernando Zobel; and the historically important “Las Buyeras” by Jorge Pineda that won the Bronze medal in the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair Exposition in Chicago, Illinois.

Also featured in the sale are pieces from the collections of Nikki Coseteng, Erlinda Enriquez-

“LAS Buyeras,” by Jorge Pineda. Signed and dated 1904

Panlilio, Ramon and Cecille Mitra, and other important private collections.

 

Contemporary works to be auctioned are by Ronald Ventura, Alfredo Esquillo, Jigger Cruz, Ronald Tapaya and John Santos.
