3 beauty discoveries perfect for the gloomy weather

OPULENCE via MAC’s Fall Indulge collection

Last Tuesday, I and five others had the privilege to preview and experience MAC’s Fall Indulge collection. The tables were set lavishly with gold-trimmed glasses and china that had to be flown in.

The collection is all about luxury, opulence and layering. The rich jewel tones of the eye shadows and royal plum shades made me forget the gloomy weather—in fact these shades provide a contrast, making the weather quite acceptable.

I went crazy at the counter and gladly welcomed a makeover. After all, we all do get into a beauty rut and sometimes forget we need to spice up our look a little.

I brought home quite a lot, but my ultimate fave from this collection would be Sweet Succulence. It’s a deep, glossy plum that looks quite intimidating at first, but once it has been applied, it glides on the lips smoothly and is sheer with a lustrous finish. This is the type of shade that will fit any skin tone.

Diptyque

When it comes to candles, I have become quite the hoarder. My fave scent from Diptyque would be Baies. But just recently I received Jonquille. This scent is great because it has been

raining and it reminds me of a garden in spring. And I do love the smell that spring evokes, so I like this candle.

I use it in my office, which is a small room with hardly any natural light. This scent lights and “opens” up the room.

I was at Adora getting a Rimowa as a birthday present for my mother-in-law. If you are familiar with Adora, then you’ll know that before getting to Rimowa you’ll have to pass a sea of scents. And I simply love scents.

After buying the luggage, I was given an Adora gift check as rebate. So that day, after buying my mother-in-law a gift, I gifted myself with a scent!

I went home with Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Aqua Universalis.

Aqua Universalis is Kurkdjian’s take on laundry-clean fragrance. I know it is easy to think there are a million and one scents that draw inspiration from this, but Aqua Universalis is not your average fragrance. It is an intelligent and natural take on “clean.”

Now even my husband uses it. Yes, it is unisex, composed of bergamot, Sicilian lemon, lily of the valley, sweet orange and blond musky wood.

I find this scent to be sparkling and not your typical clean citrus scent.
