Cagandahan’s sculptural reliefs on exhibit at Francesca

“Ani ng Saging”
“Fruit Vendor”

Noted sculptor Glenn Cagandahan explores the quintessence of the Filipino in “Kasaganaan,” opening Sept. 26 at Galerie Francesca in SM Megamall.

Glenn Cagandahan (b. 1977) is a sculptor of folk imagery and subjects, known particularly for his small, epoxy-metal-wood figurines of farmers and their families on carabaos. He studied at the College of Fine Arts of the University of the Philippines. He’s a teacher of Humanities at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. In 2008, international auction house Borubodur successfully sold his sculpture, “Best Friends.”

In “Kasaganaan,” Cagandahan introduces sculptural relief. Wall-mounted panels of raised sculpted material, the technique is considered a demonstration of exceptional sculptural aptitude. The exhibition showcases the artist’s ability to assimilate new methods and materials to bring about a fresh new approach to sculpture.
