Megan Young showed the world what we can do as Filipinos—Palace

MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang on Sunday  said the feat of newly-crowned Miss World Megan Young showed once again what the Filipinos can do.

 

“(W)e congratulate Megan Young for being crowned Miss World,” Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office Secretary Ricky Carandang said in a press briefing aired over state-run dzRB Radyo ng Bayan.

 

“This is another Filipino who has gone out there in the world, and shown the rest of the world what we can do as Filipinos, and another reason for us to be proud,” Carandang said.

 

Young, 23,  bested 126 beauty queens from around the world to become the first Filipina to win the coveted title in a contest broadcast to more than 180 countries worldwide.

 

The Filipino actress was crowned Miss World in a glittering finale on the Indonesian resort island of Bali on Saturday.
