While sky-high heels are still the favored footwear of fashionistas everywhere, nothing beats the comfortable embrace of a well-made pair of flats.
We first came across footwear brand Le Bunny Bleu in the streets of Seoul; its pale blue and white French country-style interiors beckoned us to linger and try on every pair in the shop (one of the boutiques in Seoul even included a coffee shop for weary feet to park themselves).
Though the brand is popular in Seoul, Le Bunny Bleu is actually a New York brand, and recently it opened its doors in Manila.
Its aesthetic is dubbed “romantic vintage,” and the expansive selection of flats, sandals, and oxfords live up to this. The shoes also have a whimsical flair to them, as the brand’s standard-bearer, the blue bunny, weaves itself into the design, either as subtle embroidery, or a gold medallion or charm stitched into the shoes.
Le Bunny Bleu’s pairs are extremely comfortable, and prices range between P2,500 and P5,000 a pair, depending on the style.
For Fall, Le Bunny Bleu rolls out pairs in palettes of deep grays and blues, burgundies and dusty metallics. Notable styles include oxfords with
a removable crystal-encrusted snap-on cover, velvet flats with floral embroidery, dainty ribbon flats with lace stitching, metallic sneakers with grosgrain ribbon laces, loafers, pumps with hidden heels, which is all the rage in Japan and Korea now, and wedge sneakers.
Le Bunny Bleu is 5/F, Bridgeway, East Wing Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong, and 2/F, Glorietta 5, Makati. The brand’s Spring-Summer collection is on sale. Get a pair at 20-percent off, two pairs at 30-percent off and three or more pairs at 40-percent off.
