Meanwhile, young figurative artist Aleah Angeles, whose work was successfully auctioned by Christie’s last year, will have her first solo show at the 5th ManilArt.
Dubbed “Seed,” Angeles’ show will showcase her trademark lyrical and romantic large-scale paintings of young, innocent girls.
Aside from using oil on canvases, Angeles also turned a door into a whole artwork featuring miniature paintings from top to bottom.
In 2012, Angeles’ painting “Laisy Daisy” was auctioned by Christie’s Hong Kong for twice its estimated value. It sold for $7,759, when its original estimate price is $4,138.
Angeles is a resident artist of Mendez Big and Small Art Co., founded by Dr. Joel Mendez.
