A paper doily used as napkin holder can start you off on this attractive look for your setting. This may be the simplest idea for an Old World touch, needing only the following:

 

 

 

 

INTRICATE cutwork stands out against table napkin in a dark color.

Fold your napkin in half, then into a square. From there, fold lengthwise to a two-inch width.

 

Place the doily in the middle, then secure in the back neatly with a piece of tape.

 

Tip: Paper doilies usually come in plain white, gold or silver. The intricate cutwork will stand out against a darker background, such as the one in the photo.
