The Formators’ Institute at Transfiguration (Fiat) 2013 will be held Nov. 11-17 at the Monastery of the Transfiguration in San Jose, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
“Midlife Transition in Religious Life” is a one-week program that aims at supporting the needs and concerns of religious formation houses and seminaries.
The challenge and joy of working as an agent of formation is in the mystery of witnessing the growth in wisdom and hope of persons sent by God in this special ministry. As instruments of God’s work, all members of a religious community are “formators” and have expressed that they all need personal care and “processing” in their own growth, as well as experiencing the formative process of those under initial formation.
Fiat 2013 is a response to that expressed need. “Midlife Transition in Religious Life” is open to religious men and women, whether or not directly involved in formation, such as those beginning to explore the ministry, and those experienced/seasoned formators who want to enrich their knowledge and skills, or those who simply want to understand better this delicate stage in human development.
At the very least, participants will experience a community of friends sharing experiences and building linkages for personal and institutional support.
Participation assumes a joyful willingness to engage in a variety of experiences in Prayer-Encounter-Workshop-Study, facilitated within the structure of a formative faith community.
Participants will experience the peace, quiet and beauty of nature in this Benedictine monastery in the hills of Bukidnon, and are expected to join the monks in their monastic Liturgy of the Hours and in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Thus, it becomes a double treat for participants—a seminar on formation and a monastic experience.
Certificates of participation will be given. For more information, contact Dom Martin Gomez, OSB, Fiat 2013 coordinator, Monastery of the Transfiguration, San Jose, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, 8700. Call 0917-5105585, fax 088-2214708 or e-mail dommartinosb@yahoo.com.
