Love and Duterte’s war on drugs: Liza Soberano, Brandon Perea to star in ‘Patron Saints of Nothing’

Sparks fly as the pair uncover a dark truth in this YA novel adaptation

We’ve got another Liza Soberano Hollywood movie on our watchlist.

Soberano is reportedly starring in Diane Paragas’ (“Yellow Rose”) film adaptation of Randy Ribay’s young adult novel “Patron Saints of Nothing.” And get this, reportedly joining her in the preliminary cast are Filipino-American “Nope” star Brandon Perea and musical theater actor Jon Jon Briones.

An official announcement has yet to be published as the film is currently in the early stages of production but the details were uploaded on the film’s IMDb page. Casting, among other things, is subject to change but we’re interested to see the chemistry between the leads.

“Patron Saints of Nothing” is described as Filipino-American teenager Jay Reguero’s coming-of-age story as he discovers that his cousin Jun was murdered as part of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs. Perea is set to take on the lead role while Soberano will portray journalism student Mia. Sparks fly as the pair set out on a mission to find the truth.

We’re also looking forward to the upcoming release of the “Lisa Frankenstein” movie where Soberano joins Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse.
