LPU and Air Asia host second Manila Tourism Forum

The College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM) of Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila (LPU) campus and international low-cost carrier Air Asia, Inc. are hosting the second edition of the Manila Tourism Forum on Nov. 29 at LPU’s JPL Hall of Freedom.

 

The event is open to all Tourism and Hospitality Education students, faculty members, university officials, and the public.

 

With the theme Pacesetting in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry, the event’s resource speakers are Jonathan Yabut of Air Asia, the winner in the recently concluded reality show “The Apprentice Asia”; Alejandra Clemente, Rajah Tours president; Catherine Castañeda,  Commission on Higher Education director of programs and standards; Sharon Fong, SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. assistant vice president for marketing; Doris Magsaysay-Ho,  Magsaysay Maritime Corp. CEO.

 

Keynote speaker is Dr. Sue Beeton from La Trobe University in Victoria, Australia, a noted international expert on travel and tourism research. The entrance ticket of P650 includes conference kit, certificate of attendance, full-service sit-down lunch, heavy morning and afternoon snacks, and raffle stub with prizes including tickets to Air Asia’s domestic and international destinations.

Home economists gab in CamSur

 

The Philippine Home Economics Association (PHEA) will hold its 65th annual convention on Nov. 22-24 at the Camarines Sur Water Sports Complex in Cadlin Pili with Dr. Helena Z. Benitez, founding president of the association and now board chair of The Philippine Women’s University as special guest. She will give an inspirational message.

 

To welcome the participants to the three-day convention with the theme “Home Economics Literacy: Investing in Our Future” is Gov. Miguel Villafuerte, keynote speaker, with Gilbert Sadsad of the Department of Education, Division of Camarines Sur, and PHEA vice president Dr. Pedro Vegim.

 

Representative, lawyer Ma. Leonor Robredo of the 3rd district of Camarines Sur is the afternoon speaker on Nov. 23. She will talk on Emerging from the Challenges of Family Life.

 

The resource speakers who will tackle the K-12 curriculum, technology and livelihood education and needle craft training are directors Ramon Fiel Abcede, Dr. Lolita Andrada and Dr. Marilyn Dimaano of the Department of Education, and Jane Sebastian of Focus Global, Inc.

 

Master of ceremonies are PHEA officers Albert Rosarda of Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Erlinda Serrano of PWU.
