Tatler cancels ball, raises funds instead for Habitat

More and more lifestyle and social events are being canceled or postponed, usually to give way to fundraising for relief and rehabilitation efforts in the Visayas.

Philippine Tatler canceled its annual Tatler Ball set for last Saturday, Nov. 16, at Shangri-La Makati. The A-list event is the much-anticipated high-profile formal affair attended by the who’s who in high society, café society, business and industry and even government.

The Tatler Ball was supposed to have as beneficiary the Virlanie Foundation. Instead of the ball, Tatler chairperson and publisher Irene Martel Francisco announced that the high-society magazine is raising money for Habitat for Humanity, which is involved in rebuilding the lives of typhoon “Yolanda” survivors.

This early, Tatler has already raised P2.5 million.

The Suyen Group, which is behind the leading retail chain Bench, postponed the launch of the Skin Expert Revlight product with Carla Abellana as endorser.

The launch was supposed to have been held Nov. 16 at the Skin Expert Clinic, Glorietta 4, Makati.

Also canceled was the launch of Herve Leger store at Shangri-La Edsa East Wing. This is the first store in the Philippines of Herve Leger, the fashion brand famous for its skin-tight band clothes.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour also canceled its press conference. The festival features short films on mountain sights and experiences from all over the globe.
