The High School Family Council (Hisfaco) 2013-14 of San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) aims to capture the heart of the Bedan community, and is sponsoring the screening of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”

This project joins the ranks of this year’s valuable activities, undertaken by the executive board led by its indefatigable president, Josephine Carpio. “The Hunger Games” movie-block screening targets the loyal movie fanatics of the American science-fiction adventure film based on Suzanne Collins’ novel, “Catching Fire,” the second installment in the “Hunger Games” trilogy.

The film is the sequel to “The Hunger Games,” the second installment in the “Hunger Games” film series, produced and distributed by Lionsgate, and is expected to be one of the year’s biggest blockbusters.

Tonette Reyes, family affairs committee chair, and Shalini Morta, business manager of Hisfaco, lead the collaboration with SBCA administration by initiating a fund-raising activity to support the Sports Scholarship Fund for the high school sports committee.

This scholarship fund will benefit deserving varsity players of the school, providing them with tuition-only scholarship packages. This fund will be managed by the Athletics Office, in cooperation with the scholarship board and Hisfaco.

Due to the recent calamity in Eastern Visayas, the Hisfaco Board has agreed to also allocate a portion of the proceeds for the victims of Supertyphoon “Yolanda.”

Why this movie? Jo Carpio was asked. She says, “A Hunger Games fundraiser appeals to teens as well as adults and offers a very adaptable format for a fun event.”

The block screening of the movie  is on Nov. 23, first full show, at the Alabang Town Center Cinemas, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. The Bedan community has been tapped to support the project where every parent and teacher was asked to further the cause by encouraging the students and their parents to watch the movie.

Thus, it is expected that Hisfaco will not only fulfill its purpose while putting up a legacy to work, but also provide entertainment for the entire family.
