MANILA, Philippines—After three sold-out weekends at the RCBC Theater, “Grease,” the original High School Musical, returns for its final weekend of shows and promises to knock you off your senses with electrifying performances, rock ’n roll sensibilities, and choreography that will get you up and dancing on your feet… literally.
In a show that’s all about celebrating the best years of your life, “Grease” follows the story of T-Bird Danny Zuko and new girl Sandy who rekindle their hot summer fling from opposite sides of the high school bleachers.
Critics have dubbed this “well-oiled” production of 9 Works Theatrical as the best staging of the show to date, “beating its predecessors by a mile.” With its jukebox set, concert vibe, and showcase of well-loved classics like “Summer Nights,” “You’re the One that I Want,” and “Greased Lightnin,” you can’t help but leave the theater smiling from ear to ear, dancing on your tippy toes, and nursing a serious case of L.S.S.
Besides performances from the likes of Gian Magdangal, Frencheska Farr, Iya Villania and Jennifer Blair Bianco, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, and “Grease”’s talented ensemble, the show also features a surprise Teen Angel for every show who sings the iconic “Beauty School Dropout.”
So far Tom Rodriguez, Tirso Cruz III, Franco Laurel, Michael de Mesa, Bo Cerrudo, Raul Montesa, OJ Mariano, J.M. Rodriguez, and Jake Macapagal have put their own unique spin to the role.
Expect more surprises, hearty laughs, and good times with “Grease’”s final weekend.
