Peninsula Hotels has launched “Hope for the Philippines,” an initiative by Peninsula hotels across Asia and the US to help the victims of supertyphoon “Haiyan-Yolanda” in the Philippines.

Ongoing until Jan. 21, 2014, the program will consist of a percentage of guests’ hotel rates, as well as a percentage of the purchases of a special tea, halo-halo, and Trees of Hope going to the relief effort.

Peninsula Manila will make a donation of US$5 per night of each guest’s stay. Guests wishing to make additional contribution may do so through their credit cards upon checkout.

The Philippine-theme “Tea of Hope” will be served in all Peninsula lobbies, with 100 percent of the retail price of each tea set donated to Hope for the Philippines.

Focusing on tropical fruits of the Philippines, the special tea features mango, coconut, banana and pineapple-flavored treats. The Peninsula Tea of Hope will retail in Manila for P980.

Moreover, the Philippine dessert favorite halo-halo, served at the Peninsula Manila’s iconic lobby for P425, is now available in each Peninsula hotel, with 100 percent of the retail price donated to Hope.

Now on its 10th year across all hotels, Peninsula Hotels’ annual group-wide “Trees of Hope” fundraising campaign will benefit Hope for the Philippines. Guests may take home the specially created SnowPage glass ornaments after making a donation to Hope.

Taking as its inspiration the iconic Peninsula pageboy, SnowPage was created especially for the 2013 holiday season and will retail in Manila for P500.

All proceeds for Hope for the Philippines will be donated to Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation Inc., which will help rebuild homes and communities in the eastern Visayas destroyed by Haiyan-Yolanda.

Hope for the Philippines follows the Peninsula Hotels’ 2011 initiative, Hope for Japan, which raised over US$500,000 for the victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami.
