MANILA, Philippines—A new book of essays on Andres Bonifacio and the Philippine Revolution will be launched Thursday at Balagtas Hall of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Sta. Mesa).
“The Aguinaldo Counterrevolution and the Letters of Andres Bonifacio and Gregoria de Jesus to Emilio Jacinto” by poet-philosopher and radical historian Domingo DC de Guzman will be launched after the author’s 1-4 p.m. lecture on its contents. The lecture-forum is under the auspices of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Development headed by Dr. Bong Muhi Jr.
The author describes the book as “a documentary exposé” on, among others, “the Magdalo-Magdiwang Tejeros conspiracy and coup d’etat, the myth and the lie of Emilio Aguinaldo’s military prowess, and the myth and the lie of Cavite as a liberated rather than an abandoned zone.”
Domingo DC de Guzman holds a Palanca Award (first prize) in poetry in English. He taught philosophy and political theory at the University of the Philippines Diliman and history at UP Manila.
