Treat your tresses with some TLC

It’s no secret that having nice thick hair can make you look awesome. The harsh reality is that as we age, it becomes common to find many men and women with hair fall problems that might have been caused by one or many things—stress, diet, hormonal imbalance, medications (yes, birth control pills have the tendency to thin out your hair) and/or exposure to pollution and toxic substances.

Hair fall can cause great anxiety and strain that may again contribute to the existing hair fall problem. Whether or not you have a problem with your hair, it’s always best to take great care of your mane.

Healthful diet

Take charge of your body by eating healthier. How great your hair looks starts from how healthy you are from within. Take extra care of what you put into your body and feel the over-all difference. Greek yogurt, nuts, spinach, fish and eggs are just some of the nutrient rich food that you should incorporate into your meals—not necessarily everyday, but as much as possible. Avoid acidic and empty food, and focus on food rich in protein; vitamin B5; vitamin D; iron; and biotin for healthy hair, skin and nails.

Lather up

Your daily hair regime is fundamental in establishing the foundation of the health of your hair. Understand what your hair lacks, and find the right shampoo and conditioner for your daily needs. If your locks are climatically challenged (meaning the weather greatly affects your overall hair mood), try Loreal’s X-Tenso Straightened Hair Shampoo for wash and wear hair. With my hectic work schedule, I find that this shampoo is so convenient because I can do away with my handy straightener, and my usually wiry hair keeps straight and tidy for the rest of the day.

This not only saves precious minutes for me during my morning routine, it also helps keep my hair from being cooked under the heat of hair styling tools every day.

Try dusting some powder (I use Johnson’s Baby Powder) on your hair in between shampoos to absorb the oil and to add volume to your hair.

Going natural

Coconut milk is known to promote healthy hair growth because it is rich in protein and essential oils. Make your own hair mask by mixing some coconut milk with honey, applying the mixture to your scalp and massaging gently for at least two minutes. By so doing, scalp is stimulated and blood flow will help nourish your hair.

Leave the mask on for 30 minutes to an hour, shampoo and rinse with cold water. This mask might make your hair feel greasy, but continue to do this routine, and see the difference after a month or two.

Stem cell for your hair

Kérastase Densifique Scalp Treatment Massage

Stem cell is all the rage for the 21st century. Its research has improved exponentially, which has resulted in great treatments and products designed for specific problems. Recently, Kérastase launched their newest release, the Kérastase Densifique, intended to give volume onto your hair. The claim is that after 90 days of applying the product to your roots, there is promised growth of more or less 3,000 new hairs.

Given how it’s so easy to use, one vial a day, morning or evening, this is something the busy, career driven set can commit to. Densifique is enriched with stemoxydine, and vitamins B3, B5 and B6, which aids in improving hair density.
