Then, Yolanda happened. And what began as a cool idea became something much more meaningful.
The girls launched Yo Lana for Yolanda, vowing to donate all proceeds to relief efforts for the typhoon victims. They used Facebook as a marketing tool, posting, “Grab super limited stocks at Limitless: Poveda FAIR next Friday and Saturday! P250 for each crown, tons of colors to choose from and all the proceeds from the fair sales will benefit the Yolanda victims! BUY!!!!! You won’t be disappointed. P.S. We made them by hand.”
The flower crowns were a big hit at the fair, which took place last weekend. “On the first day, we sold all our stocks so fast that we had to start making them on the spot!” they told us on the phone.
Parents, students, kids and adults clamored for more flower crowns. One dad walked up to the booth, said, “Is this for Yolanda?” and handed the girls a P500 bill, telling them to keep the change.
On the first day, EntrePinoy made P17,500. Their second day was just as busy, with the crowns running out again and more people placing orders.
“Our profits, however small compared to the millions donated by big companies, will definitely help,” the girls said.
