MANILA, Philippines–On December 18, pop sensation Jed Madela, Cultural Center of the Philippines president and noted music conductor Raul Sunico and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra will headline their first musical collaboration, “Romancing Ivory”, a grand gala concert at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater) at 8 in the evening.
The benefit concert highlights the 35th anniversary celebration of the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex Employees Organization (CCPCEO).
For 35 years, the CCP-CEO has been a constant arm of the CCP in promoting the welfare of its cultural workers and upholding a culture of service with artistic integrity and professionalism. The organization has partnered with various corporations and produced successful and lauded performances at the CCP.
“Romancing Ivory” will be a fusion of popular and classical music, featuring globally-acclaimed performers in the Philippine music scene. Also known as ‘the singer’s singer,’ grand balladeer Jed Madela, is the first Filipino to win the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) world grand champion title, and is known for his uniquely wide vocal range.
Sunico, one of the 1986 TOYM Awardees for Arts & music, is an internationally-renowned and multi-awarded pianist. Maestro Olivier Ochanine, PPO’s Music Director and Principal Conductor, will also be gracing the evening with performances on Flute. These stars will be accompanied by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), the country’s national orchestra and widely regarded as one of the top musical ensembles in the Asia-Pacific region.
Experience an evening filled with favorite melodies harmonies as Jed Madela serenades us with songs from OPM, Broadway and Pop genres. Expect stunning piano solos brilliantly arranged and performed by Dr. Sunico, who also performs a duet with Madela. Accompanying these performers is the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra with its trademark richness of symphonic sound, under the baton of Maestro Herminigildo Ranera.
Romancing Ivory is a presentation of CCPCEO in cooperation with the CCP, and the Opera Guild of the Philippines, with the support of Rustan’s and Harbour Square. Direction is by Ariel Yonzon, head of the CCP Production and Exhibition Department.

Ticket prices are Php3,000, Php2,500, Php2,000, Php1,500, Php1,000 and Php500. About 5 percent of all ticket sales will go to the relief fund for Typhoon “Yolanda” survivors. This event is perfect for the whole family and a timely way to give in this season of sharing.
